2020 Hyundai Tucson vs Kia Sportage

Finding your next vehicle, especially among the stacked SUV lineup, can be harder than you might anticipate. It's hard to know where to start, and what kind of vehicle is going to give you the comfort and utility you need. We are here to help narrow down the options for you, which is why we're focusing on two top competitors: the 2020 Hyundai Tucson and the 2020 Kia Sportage. The Tucson has no major changes in 2020, giving you that classic handsome styling, the impressive safety scores, a great warranty, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Meanwhile, Kia found themselves having to revise the Sportage, and it now features a standard 8-inch touchscreen, a few engines, and additional available safety features that you'll have to tack on. Keep reading to figure out which of these two SUVs comes out on top.

2020 Hyundai Tucson Power & Handling

The very first thing that we're going to be looking at with the 2020 Tucson are the available engines. This is an important way to really get the power you are looking for, and with these two engines, that should be no problem. The base engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, which can output around 164 horsepower and up to 151 pound-feet of torque. The other available engine is a 2.4-liter inline-4, which generates 175 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower. Both front- and all-wheel drive are available with these engines, and no matter what, you'll be getting a six-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Kia Sportage Power & Handling

Like the Tucson, two engines are available with the 2020 Sportage. Both engines are offered with either FWD or AWD, along with a six-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, which outputs 175 pound-feet of torque and around 181 horsepower. The other available engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, which can get you 260 pound-feet of torque and 240 horsepower. This model can't tow very high amounts, so you're better off looking for something else.

2020 Hyundai Tucson Features & Design

While the engine is at the very heart of what this vehicle represents, it is in the standard and available features where Hyundai further cements itself as the automotive brand of choice. Some of the standard features with this SUV include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 17-inch alloy wheels, forward-collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, and a seven-inch touchscreen. The rest of the lineup will give you features like wireless charging, a hands-free liftgate, rear-seat vents, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, blind-spot warning, proximity key, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

2020 Kia Sportage Features & Design

Now it's time to look at the standard and available features that you can find with the Sportage. Some of the standard features include lane-keep assist, air conditioning, automatic high-beam assist, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Available features include a navigation system, LED interior lighting, a unique front fascia, a black headliner, a heated steering wheel, rear parking sensors, leather seats, sport-tuned suspension, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, and a Harman Kardon sound system.
