Toyota Safety Sense 2.0

Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Intended for highway use, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) lets you drive at a preset speed. The system is designed to function at speed of 0-110 mph and uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control, helping maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you. Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control only available on CVT models.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist

By detecting visible white/yellow lane markings or the road's edge at speeds above 32 mpg, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) is designed to issue an audio/visual alert if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If the driver does not take corrective action, the Steering Assist function (if equipped) is designed to provide gentle corrective steering.

What can you tell me about the model lineup?

The model lineup for the 2021 Corolla consists of five main trim levels plus the new SE Nightshade. The L model starts you off with LED headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power door locks, and 15-inch wheels. The LE model then upgrades to a larger 8-inch touchscreen and adds heated side mirrors, a USB port for rear passengers, and automatic climate control. Moving on to the XLE, you'll also get a sunroof, heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, blind-spot monitoring, remote entry, and an upgraded driver information display. The SE model adds a sporty feel with sport front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, and sportier exterior trim accents, while the SE Nightshade Edition adds blacked-out wheels, a blacked-out grille, black Toyota badging, and various other black accents. The XSE model combines the features of the SE and XLE. The Apex Edition can then be paired with either the SE or the XSE model. The new edition adds a lower ride height, optional summer performance tires, black and bronze exterior trim, and more.

What does the Corolla have for a powertrain lineup?

We're glad you asked! The 2021 Toyota Corolla is available with two different gas-powered engines and a hybrid powertrain option. The standard engine for the lineup is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 139 horsepower and comes paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Then there is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that comes standard on the SE. This engine cranks out 169 horsepower, 151 lb-ft of torque, and can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or the CVT transmission. If you get the CVT transmission, you'll also get steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters on the SE model that allows you to have a more engaging ride. The available Sport driving mode then further enhances the fun by adjusting shift points. The optional hybrid powertrain is rated to make an EPA-estimated 53 combined mpg.
