What's under the hood of the Highlander?
All versions of the 2021 Toyota Highlander come with a very capable 3.5-liter V6 engine that pounds the pavement with 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. All-wheel-drive is an available option on all trim levels if you so choose. There is a lot to love about this engine as not only is it supremely powerful, but it feels like driving a cloud.
What are some fo the features of the Highlander?
There are a whopping six trim levels available for the Highlander, and each one comes with a tremendous amount of tech and luxury features. Starting things off is the L which comes with LED headlights, heated mirrors, remote keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable driver's seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to the LE trim adds foglights, a height-adjustable power liftgate, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a blind-spot monitor. Next up is the seven-passenger XLE, which comes with roof rails, a sunroof, a wireless charging pad, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, second-row captain's chairs, and a more significant driver information display. Then, the new XSE trim adds unique sporty styling cues, sport-tuned suspension, interior ambient lighting, and a navigation system. The Limited adds more luxury items such as front and rear parking sensors, a hands-free liftgate, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a JBL audio system. Topping the line is the Platinum which rounds things out with adaptive headlamps, automatic wipers, a panoramic sunroof, a digital rearview mirror, a surround-view camera, heated second-row seats, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
What are a few of the Highlanders safety features?
Each trim level of the Toyota Highlander comes with Toyota's Safety Sense which has some superior safety features such as a Forward Collision Mitigation System that will warn you of an impending frontal collision and can apply the brakes in certain situations. An Adaptive Cruise Control System allows you to maintain a pre-set distance between the Highlander and all the traffic ahead of it. The most advanced safety system of the Highlander is the Lane Tracing Assist System which will make minor steering corrections to help keep the Highlander centered in its lane. You also get automatic high beams and a traffic sign reader.
