Here at Pearson Auto Group, we are excited to share with you what makes the 2024 Hyundai Elantra and Tucson so safe. Keep reading below to learn more!

Safety Features for the 2024 Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai has always taken driver safety very seriously, as can be seen with their extensive use of driver assistance technologies. While some driver assists are available on higher trim levels, a much greater number are standard across the entire lineup. For example, the Hyundai Elantra Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection, which IIHS gave a 'Superior' rating to in both a daytime and nighttime test. Meanwhile, this system is upgraded for the Limited trim, adding cyclist and junction turning detection. Other standard driver assists for the Elantra include Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance, Safe Exit Warning, and Rear Occupant Alert. Meanwhile, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Highway Driving Assist are added to the Limited and all following trims.

2024 Hyundai Tucson Safety Features

The Tucson's driver assists are much the same. However, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection, Cyclist, and Junction Detection are made standard for the entire lineup. Meanwhile, Remote Smart Parking Assist, Blindspot View Monitor, and Surround View Monitor are added to the Limited trim, while Advanced Rear Occupant Alert is added to the XRT and Limited trims. In addition to the Elantra and Tucson's driver assistance features, much of the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ tests include crash tests, which require numerous safety measures to protect occupants in the event of a collision. Both feature driver and passenger front and side airbags, side curtain airbags for both rows and side airbags for rear occupants for all-around protection in a collision. Plus, both vehicles sit on a high-strength steel frame built to withstand impact, absorbing as much as possible to keep the impact energy away from the cabin and its occupants.

Have Other Hyundai Models Earned this Award?

In addition to the 2024 Hyundai Elantra and Tucson, numerous other Hyundai vehicles have been crowned with the IIHS Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards. In 2023, the Sonata and Sonata Hybrid were awarded the Top Safety Pick. Meanwhile, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade, 2023 Ioniq 6, and 2024 Ioniq 5, along with the 2024 Elantra and Tucson, all took home the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ in their respective categories!
