Most people associate spring cleaning with their house, but we here at Pearson Auto Group think you should also focus on your car's cleaning as well. Getting routine, seasonal maintenance checks will help your vehicle perform at its very best as we head into the spring. As the weather continues to warm, the early part of spring is the ideal time to get your car ready for road trips, more driving, and keep in mind that that epic summer vacation is only a few months away. Here at Pearson Auto Group, we want to help, which is why we have come up with some spring vehicle maintenance tips! Continue reading to see how you can help maintain your vehicle this spring!

Get a Wash and Wax

While we don't tend to get a ton of snow here in Virginia, things can get a little slippery during the winter months, which means the roads get salted. So make sure that you do a clean sweep of your vehicle, especially the undercarriage, so it's free from all the weather and salt that the winter months bring. If it's necessary, try applying some rust-proof underneath your car that can add an extra salt-busting shield. In addition, spring is a great time to get your car washed and waxed. You can wash your vehicle yourself with some soap and water and a sponge and then apply the wax afterword's to give your vehicle that nice shine!

Fluid Check

If the fluids in your vehicle get neglected, it could spell doom. So once the winter concludes, when maintenance is usually skipped, you should ring in the new season by checking your fluids. Be sure to check your coolant, brake fluid, oil, and transmission fluid are all filled at optimal capacity. Head down to Pearson Auto Group and speak with our highly experienced technicians, who will be more than happy to assist you in topping off your fluids.

Get your Air Filter Inspected

As the winter progresses, your air filter can become clogged, which can severely impact the performance of your engine. A nasty air filter can even affect your gas mileage by up to 10% if you fail to get it changed. We recommend heading down to Pearson Auto Group and speaking with our team to get your air filter checked. If you need a replacement, our technicians can do that for you as well!

Change your Windshield Wipers and Battery

Your windshield wiper blades can get worn out during the winter weather and may need to be replaced. This is especially true if they make a stuttering noise or leave streaks or film on the windshield. As a rule of thumb, you should replace your windshield wipers every six months. In addition, after the harsh winter months, you're going to want to get your battery checked as well. If you head down to Pearson Auto Group, we will test your battery, and if you need to have it replaced, we will do so in a timely manner.

Tire and Interior Maintenance

After the winter months, you're going to need to check your tires. Be sure to keep your tires inflated to the recommended range, typically 30-32 psi. Also, check your tires for specifics, such as making sure that your tire tread is fine. If you have installed winter tires, be sure to remove them and change to all-season tires from spring through autumn. Spring is also an excellent time to make sure your interior is adequately cleaned. Be sure to take care of any trash inside your vehicle and vacuum the seats and the carpet. Remember, a clean car is a happy car!
